Introduction
ESCHATOLOGY — look it up in your own dictionary — as taught today is the work of William W. Walter, and it is the intention of this introductory article to give all due credit to him for the Truth set forth herein. However, since it is of the utmost importance that no one be misled about this greatest of all subjects, let it be stated here and now that Mr. Walter’s part in this vast work has been and always will be that of torchbearer. He did not originate the science. No one did. He did not discover it. History intimates that Jesus did, although it is known that he learned it little by little from others older than him. Mr. Walter did not rediscover it. Mary Baker Eddy did that after it had lain dormant for centuries, covered with the dust of misunderstanding. What William Walter did do was to take it up when it was in danger of again being hidden under the debris of church organization, hold it up where all might see its light, and carry it on to guide the steps of mankind to a better, bigger, more satisfying life. The unfoldment and further understanding of a true science is never finished. There will never, in fact, come a time when anyone can put the final period to the writing of it. However, to know all of Eschatology is to know the Truth of Life and its laws as best as can be understood at this time. And to know the Truth of Life and its laws thus far is to know all there is to know for its further progressive mastery. Enter into Eschatology with the spirit of the pioneer. Aim to find out, and having found out, to help the next fellow find out. In that way you will be doing something real for yourself, for your neighbor and for the world at large.
