CONCLUSION IN the preceding chapters I have earnestly tried to show you something of what Eschatology is, something of what it can do for you, something of how it is promulgated. The next move is yours. Don't say you haven't time. Take time! What can you possibly be doing that can even approach in importance the pursuit of the Understanding of this Life of which you are an inseparable part? "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom, and with all thy getting, get understanding." How else could Solomon have stated it to make it any more emphatic? It is not absolutely essential that you take instruction in this science from a teacher, although that method is by far the most satisfactory. As in any other science, the conscientious student can make good progress merely by the method of home study. Also, as in any other science, the conscientious student can think the whole thing out for himself, though it may take more effort. I have no desire to make you think that you must buy a specified book or set of books, or that you must engage a particular teacher [or else suffer the] pain of eternal damnation. That is not so. I do, however, want to make you realize that the science of Eschatology is the science of life; and that you are faced with the absolute necessity of understanding that science, discovering and conducting yourself in strict accordance with those laws, whether you do it here and now with the help of book and teacher, or whether you do it hereafter all on your own. "You must work out your own salvation," says the Bible. It does not say you may if you care to; it says you must. What does it mean by that? Simply that until you do get to work and understand life and learn to live in accordance with life's laws, you will go on experiencing in ever increasing intensity the ills of this world, even beyond that point which humanity erringly calls death. Why waste another day? |
